The UK Equine Assisted Services Partnership is the membership body for the
UK Equine Assisted Services sector
We support and represent a high quality Equine Assisted Services sector
and ensure a good life for equid partners.
Ranging from physical and psychological therapies to learning outcomes, we support a broad cross section of modalities in EAS.
In addition to acting as a collective voice for the sector, we host the Human Equine Interaction Register (HEIR) which supports informed choices for service users, while aiding commissioners and practitioners to find equine-assisted therapy providers and training organisations.
Equine Assisted Services as a “sector” isn’t regulated by a single body, there are a multitude of different qualifications; models of practice and regulatory requirements required for different providers depending on the way they work.
Finding the right service can be very confusing and referrers; service users and funders can find it difficult to distinguish a high quality provider from one who may not meet minimum standards to operate safely. This is where the Human Equine Interaction Register can give reassurance.
Seeing the HEIR kitemark on a service provider’s or training provider’s website and promotional material lets you know that they meet all the minimum requirements for safe and effective practice. If you’re considering working with a provider of an equine assisted service and they are not yet on the HEIR register, please proceed with caution and ask why they are not yet registered.
